Finder basically freezes every time I even select a folder when my drive is mounted in CloudMounter until that file has been cached fully. Just tried with Quicktime and same issue. Anything I'm currently trying to do is in Finder. However, the video preview function on macOS (select a file and hit the space bar) doesn't work either. 3.When Yandex Log in to continue appears, enter your ID (email or phone), and click the Log in button. 2.Select the required options, and click the Connect button. One of the ways I am trying to access files is through VLC. 1.Under Storage, select the Yandex Disk in the Personal tab. Kind of like trying to open a file in ftp client - it either will not work, or it will try to download whole file first. The fact that it does not work for you means that the way you are accessing it is different, probably through some 3-rd party software, which does not allow opening files directly at all. It works the same way as from local storage with regular buffers which are present for local storage too and are very small. I don't really mind which cloud storage option works best, but Google Drive would be the preferred option as I run currently use that for general online files.Īs a side question: is it actually possible to use a media player like VLC to stream content from a remote location, whether it be cloud storage or a NAS or does the file have to be cached to the local disk before it can be viewed? Any suggestions? I read something about rclone but I don't know whether that will solve my issue. It looks as if PlexCloud was the ideal solution, but they have since dropped this functionality and I can't find an alternative. So, I'm looking for a cloud storage media app that will work on macOS, Android and Android TV that will allow me to instantly stream my files without having to cache the whole thing first, essentially like watching video on Netflix or YouTube. I tried out using Kodi as an alternative and this does pretty much what I want, as it only caches up to ~60MB, according to their site, and this cache is left on the RAM, rather than the SSD, but the interface is AWFUL on mobile and desktop. These are great for allowing me to free up local storage and work natively in the OS (I'm on Mac), but they have to cache the file in its entirety before I can watch in VLC. I have looked into solutions that allow me to mount cloud storage as network drives but the issue seems to be that the entire file has to be cached first before I can watch/listen to the media. I've been searching for a solution to this over the last week and haven't got anywhereĮssentially, I want to offload a bunch of movies and music to the cloud to free up storage space on my laptop.
